Seawolves sweep Binghamton, stay undefeated in America East play

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team swept its fourth-straight opponent with a three-set victory over Binghamton (25-21, 25-18, 25-23) at Pritchard Gymnasium Friday night. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 7-12 and 3-0 in America East, while Binghamton falls to 4-14 and 1-3 in conference play.

Highlights
- The Seawolves trailed 14-8 in the first set before storming back to take the frame 25-21. Senior Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill.) had five of her match-high 16 kills in the set.
- Stony Brook hit .469 in the second set to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room, as the Seawolves won the set 25-18. Fletcher had six kills in the set, while senior Nicole Vogel (Costa Mesa, Calif.) had 13 of her match-high 33 assists in the frame.
- Binghamton led the third set 19-18 before Stony Brook turned the deficit into a 23-20 lead. The Seawolves brought the Bearcats to match point before Binghamton closed the gap to 24-23. Following a Stony Brook timeout and a replay due to an inadvertent whistle, the Seawolves closed out the match on a Binghamton service error.
- Freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) had nine kills on a .471 hitting percentage for the Seawolves.

Notes
- The Seawolves are 3-0 in America East, marking the first time in the Division I era Stony Brook has opened conference play undefeated through three matches. Stony Brook began playing an America East schedule in 2001.
- Stony Brook swept its fourth-straight opponent Friday. It marks the second time in the Division I era in which the Seawolves have rattled off four straight sweeps, as Stony Brook swept Providence, Bucknell, St. Francis Brooklyn and Sacred Heart from Sept. 6-10, 2002.
- The four-match winning streak is the longest since a five-match streak from Oct. 24-Nov. 9, 2014.
- Stony Brook and New Hampshire are tied for first in the America East standings at 3-0 through Friday.
- Freshman Taylor Wilson (Corydon, Ind.) had two aces for the Seawolves.
- The Seawolves outhit the Bearcats .313-.171.
