Boston, Mass. -
Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) of the Stony Brook men's basketball team was named co-America East Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Warney, who has five double-doubles in five games this season, finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks in the 76-63 victory over Loyola Maryland. In Saturday's win over Farmingdale State, Warney tallied 16 points and 10 rebounds.
He finished the week shooting 14 of 17 (.824) from the field.
The reigning two-time America East Player of the Year has accounted for a double-double in 11 straight games dating back to last year and 44 in 107 career games.
Warney is 18 rebounds from 1,000 for his career and only 50 points from breaking Bryan Dougher's Division I program record of 1,609 points.
Binghamton's Willie Rodriguez averaged 26.5 points and 8.0 rebounds last week to share the award with Warney.
