Stony Brook falls to Binghamton in five sets

Vestal, N.Y. - The Stony Brook volleyball team was edged by America East foe Binghamton in five sets (25-21, 17-25, 22-25, 25-16, 12-15) Saturday at West Gym. In the defeat, the Seawolves fall to 11-17 and 5-5 in America East, while the Bearcats improve to 8-18 and 5-6 in conference play.

Highlights
- After trailing 2-1, the Seawolves hit .448 in a 25-16 fourth-set victory to force a fifth set.
- Freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) had 13 kills and six blocks for the Seawolves.
- Senior Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill.) had 14 kills, 12 digs, three aces and three blocks.
- Senior Stephanie McFadden (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) had 14 kills and four blocks.
- Senior Nicole Vogel (Costa Mesa, Calif.) tallied 55 assists while senior Lo Hathaway (Warsaw, N.Y.) notched 20 digs.

- The Seawolves fall to 13-17 against the Bearcats in the Division I era.
- Stony Brook drops to 0-4 in five-set matches.
- Freshman Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) made her first appearance since Sept. 25 in Saturday’s match.
- Despite the loss, the Seawolves secured the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Bearcats by virtue of sets won.

Stony Brook returns home to host New Hampshire Friday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. at Pritchard Gymnasium. The night will be the Battle of the Undergraduate Colleges and the Seawolves’ You Can Play Night in conjunction with America East.
