Opponent: American hasn't played since falling at Wagner, 55-48, on December 6. Delante Jones had a career-high 20 points against the Seahawks, but no other Eagle tallied more than eight points. Jones, a freshman, is averaging 8.0 points per game. Senior Jesse Reed leads American with 11.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. One of American's two victories this season was a 68-50 victory over New Hampshire on November 28.
Series: American leads 2-1, but Stony Brook won last year's contest, 59-47, on Long Island. Senior Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.) tallied a game-high 18 points and senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) recorded one of his Division I-best 24 double-doubles with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Last Time Out: Despite a season-high 29 points from Jameel Warney, Stony Brook fell to Northeastern, 75-62, at Matthews Arena.
Warney, who added 11 rebounds and four blocks, shot 12 of 22 from the field and went 5 of 7 from the line.
Warney broke Bryan Dougher's Division I scoring record in the first half. Warney, who entered Saturday's game with 1,602 points, broke Dougher's record of 1,609 with a layup in the first half.
