Stony Brook, N.Y. — The renowned Art of Coaching Volleyball Clinic will be held in Long Island in 2015. Some of the nation’s top coaches will be at Island Federal Credit Unpin Arena June 13-14 to run sessions designed to help participants learn and hone coaching skills.
"I am incredibly excited to bring several of the best coaches in our sport right here to Stony Brook for the Art of Coaching clinic this summer!” Stony Brook volleyball head coach Coley Pawlikowski said. “The opportunity for local and regional coaches of all levels to be right here on campus, utilizing our first-class facilities while learning from some of the most renowned coaches in our game is something my staff and I are proud to to help provide to the Northeast volleyball community."
"The opportunity for our players to work with and grow from these coaches is both a unique and transforming opportunity. It is also a wonderful platform for our student-athletes to be in front of the volleyball community as we continue to expand our network and support surrounding our program."
Russ Rose, head coach of reigning national champion Penn State, is one of six speakers slated to provide instruction during the clinic. He will be joined by Stanford head coach John Dunning, Oregon State head coach Terry Liskevych, University of North Carolina head coach Joe Sagula, Australia National Team head coach Mark Barnard and Pawlikowski.
"As an athletics program, we've been talking about doing big-time things,” redshirt junior captain Lo Hathaway said. “In my opinion, hosting this clinic is huge. It's pretty incredible to have an opportunity to learn from some of the greatest coaches in the game. To put the cherry on top, they're coming to us. We get a chance to show off our program, facilities and take another step towards putting Stony Brook on the map."
"I think this coaching clinic is a great opportunity to experience and learn from some of the best coaches around,” junior setter Nicole Vogel, a second-team all-conference choice, said. “This a chance for Stony Brook to show how our athletic community has improved and intends to make great strides to be the best we can. I'm really looking forward to this summer to be a part of this step for Stony Brook Volleyball.”
