The Jaspers swept Saint Francis U and defeated Coppin State in four sets Friday before splitting Saturday, as Manhattan was swept by the host Tigers before beating Delaware State in four sets. Claire Van Dyk leads the Jaspers with 2.93 kills/set, while Allie Yamashiro had 4.07 digs/set in the season’s opening weekend. The Jaspers tallied 29 aces in 15 sets (1.93/set) as a team.

Bark Twice If You’re From Milwaukee
Freshman setter Morgan Kath was named America East Setter of the Week for her play in the season’s opening weekend. Kath tallied 9.18 assists/set over the Seawolves’ three matches, including 40 in a four-set win over Buffalo and 28 in a three-set match against No. 1 Penn State.

The Freshmen
All three first-year Seawolves saw action during the season’s opening weekend. In addition to Kath’s setting performance, McKyla Brooks and Taylor Wilson each tallied double-digit kills in the win over Buffalo.

Core Four
The 2015 Seawolves have the benefit of four seniors on the roster, including two redshirt seniors in Kathy Fletcher and Lo Hathaway. Stephanie McFadden and Nicole Vogel round out the group of seniors looking for the Seawolves’ first NCAA tournament appearance in Stony Brook’s Division I era which began in 1999.

Familiar Faces
A total of 10 letterwinners return for the 2015 season as head coach Coley Pawlikowski begins her third year at Stony Brook. The 2014 team won 17 matches, the most for a Seawolves team since the 2007 squad that won the America East regular-season title.

World Travelers
Six members of the Seawolves - head coach Coley Pawlikowski, associate head coach Dan Pawlikowski, seniors Stephanie McFadden and Nicole Vogel and sophomores Cydney Bowman and Courtney Scanlan - represented the United States in the 2015 European Global Challenge in Croatia this summer.

Up Next: Fairfield Invite
The Seawolves wrap up a stretch of seven straight on the road to begin 2015 when they travel to Fairfield, Connecticut, for the Fairfield. Stony Brook will face Boston College Friday before taking on Marshall and Holy Cross in a Saturday doubleheader.
