Stony Brook, N.Y. -
The Stony Brook men’s soccer team (1-3-1) will host the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday, Sep. 16, at 7 p.m. The Seawolves are 3-3 all-time vs. Marist, but the programs have not met since 2007.

Scouting Marist

The Red Foxes enter Wednesday’s match fresh off a 1-0 victory over Binghamton to push their record to 2-3 on the season. Cameron Harr leads the team with two goals, while Zachary Reed has contributed a goal and an assist. Marist is 1-1 against America East opponents, losing to New Hampshire 3-1 on Aug. 30.

Fritz Climbing the Assist Ranks

Senior midfielder Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) moved into the school’s career assist top 10 on Sunday with his assist on senior Martin Giordano’s goal. His 11 career assists place him t-9 in program history. Fritz and sophomore midfielder Thibault Duval are tied for the team-lead in assists with two apiece.

Tale of Two Halves

The Seawolves own a +9 advantage in shot attempts in the first halves of their games this season, but are -26 in the second half. Despite the shot disparity, the Seawolves are -2 in goal differential in each half.

Youth Movement

Ten of the 16 players to see game action this season are freshmen and sophomores, a promising sign that head coach Ryan Anatol and his staff have the program trending in the right direction. Six players from the freshmen class have seen the pitch, making it the most represented class in terms of game action. Four sophomores have seen time, rounded out by four juniors and two seniors. Freshmen Serge Gamwanya (Kinshasa, Congo) and Martieon Watson (Vessigny, Trinidad) own two of Stony Brook’s three goals.
