Kath named America East Rookie of the Week

Sept. 21, 2015

Boston - Stony Brook volleyball freshman Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) collected her second America East weekly award of 2015 Monday, as the Seawolves setter was named America East Rookie of the Week by the conference office.

Kath tallied 10.50 assists/set at last weekend’s Seawolves Invite Presented by Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook. The freshman setter recorded 40 or more assists in all three of the Seawolves’ matches on the weekend, all of which went four sets. Kath had 44 assists, 12 digs and four blocks in Friday’s win over Columbia after a 42-assist performance against Rhode Island earlier in the day. Saturday against Army West Point, Kath tallied 40 assists, six digs, four blocks (two solo) and two aces.

Monday marks the second weekly conference award of Kath’s freshman season, as she was named America East Setter of the Week Aug. 31 following the first weekend of her collegiate career. Monday marks the second time in three weeks a Seawolf has taken home the America East Rookie of the Week honor, as freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) was tabbed for the award Sept. 8.

The Seawolves return to action Tuesday, Sept. 22, with a 7 p.m. match at Fordham.
