Seawolves travel to Fordham for Tuesday night clash

Back to The Bronx
The Stony Brook volleyball team plays in The Bronx for the second time this season with a Tuesday night match at Fordham. The Seawolves are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the Seawolves Invite Presented by Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook, with the victory coming against Columbia.

Scouting the Rams
Fordham is 6-9 entering Tuesday’s match after a 1-2 weekend at Saint Francis (Pa.), as the Rams defeated the host Red Flash and fell to Coppin State and High Point.

Breanna Jones leads the Rams with 2.98 kills/set, while Fordham is hitting .179 as a team. Clarissa Cartledge has tallied a team-leading 3.17 digs/set, while Emily Fronk (7.78 assists/set) and Abigail Konovodoff (7.03) have split time at setter.

The Last Time We Met
Stony Brook hosted Fordham in the Seawolves’ 2014 home opener and swept the Rams at Pritchard Gymnasium. Kathy Fletcher tallied 14 kills and six blocks in the victory.

Ace of Base
Senior Stephanie McFadden ranks third nationally with 0.64 aces/set. McFadden was named to the Seawolves Invite All-Tournament Team Saturday.

Boston Calling
The Seawolves garnered an America East weekly award in three of the season’s first four weeks. Morgan Kath was named Setter of the Week Aug. 31 and Rookie of the Week Monday, while McKyla Brooks earned Rookie of the Week honors Sept. 8.

Tuesdays with Wolfie
Tuesday’s match against Fordham is the third of four Tuesday non-conference matches for the Seawolves this season. Stony Brook faced Manhattan Sept. 1, Hofstra Sept. 8 and will square off with Sacred Heart Oct. 20.

The Freshmen
Freshman Morgan Kath leads America East in assists/set with 8.96 and is fourth nationally among freshmen with 511 total assists. McKyla Brooks is tops among conference freshmen with a .280 hitting percentage, good for second among all America East players.

America East conference play begins Friday, Sept. 25, when the Seawolves host UMBC at Pritchard Gymnasium.
