The Stony Brook volleyball team hit a season-high .379 on its way to a sweep of in-state foe Fordham (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) Tuesday night at Rose Hill Gym. With the victory, the Seawolves improve to 4-12, while the Rams fall to 6-10.
Highlights
- The Seawolves hit .485 in the first set and .500 in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match before closing out the Rams for the first sweep of 2015.
- Freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) hit .583 with nine kills in the victory, while seniors Stephanie McFadden (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill.) each added nine kills.
- Sophomore Melann Amory (Center Valley, Pa.) tallied eight kills against zero errors on 16 attacks for a .500 hitting percentage.
- Reigning America East Rookie of the Week Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) had 34 assists in the win.
- Senior Lo Hathaway (Warsaw, N.Y.) had three of the Seawolves’ seven aces in the victory.
Notes
- The .379 hitting percentage for the Seawolves was the highest since Stony Brook hit .403 in a sweep of UMass Lowell Oct. 6, 2013.
- The hitting percentage was the best in a non-conference match, a match away from Pritchard Gymnasium and a match against a full Division I member since Stony Brook hit .395 against Bucknell on Aug. 30, 2008 in New Britain, Conn.
- Kath has recorded 10.67 assists/set over her last four matches.
- McFadden is hitting .308 over her last four matches.
