Stony Brook, N.Y. –The Stony Brook volleyball team defeated UMBC in three sets (25-22, 25-22, 25-19) Friday night at Pritchard Gymnasium. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 5-12 and 1-0 in America East, while the Retrievers fall to 6-9 and 0-1 in conference play.
Highlights
- Senior Kathy Fletcher (West Chicago, Ill.) had five of the Seawolves’ eight aces in the victory. Fletcher also tallied a match-high 10 kills along with six digs.
- Freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) hit .429 with nine kills and two blocks (one solo), while senior Stephanie McFadden (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) hit .500 with seven kills.
- Freshman Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) tallied 21 assists in two sets of action.
- Senior Nicole Vogel (Costa Mesa, Calif.) recorded 11 assists, four digs and a kill in the win.
- Stony Brook held the Retrievers to a .120 hitting percentage.
