Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men’s soccer team (2-4-2) will play its final tune-up before its conference season on Sunday, Sep. 27 at Fairleigh Dickinson at 5 p.m.
Scouting Fairleigh Dickinson
The Knights enter Sunday’s match owners of a 2-5 record. Their offense has been puzzling to figure out. They have been shutout in all five losses, but have scored seven goals in their two wins, one of which was an overtime victory over American, who was ranked No. 21 in the country at the time and currently sits No. 19 in the polls. Javen Palmer paces the squad with two goals and an assist followed by Christian Dietrich and his goal and two assists. Stony Brook and Fairleigh Dickinson met last season, with the match ending in a 0-0 tie.
Erdei’s Streak
It took sophomore Vince Erdei (Budapest, Hungary) 24 games to net his first collegiate goal, but his goal vs. Marist seems to have broken the schneid. Erdei has scored the Seawolves last three goals and has three goals in his last three games.
Fritz Continues to Assist
Senior midfielder Alejandro Fritz (Budapest, Hungary) regained the conference lead in assists with his fourth of the season on Thursday. He is only two assists shy of his career-high, which he set as a freshman in 2012. Thursday’s assist moved him to tied-for-6th on the school’s all-time career assist list.
