Seawolves Take Part in Fairfield Invite
The Stony Brook volleyball team travels to Fairfield, Connecticut, for three neutral-site matches at the Fairfield Invite, facing Boston College, Marshall and Holy Cross.

Scouting the Eagles
Boston College enters the weekend 3-0 after a successful opening-weekend tournament at home. The Eagles opened the year with a win over South Alabama Aug. 28 before victories over Providence and Sacred Heart the following day.

Katty Workman averaged 5.12 kills/set in the year’s opening weekend, while Madisen Lydon leads the Eagles with 3.08 digs/set. Kam McLain has a team-high 1.20 blocks/set.

Scouting the Thundering Herd
Marshall is 4-0 after a victory over Eastern Kentucky in Tuesday’s home opener. The Herd defeated Indiana State, host Morehead State, and Canisius in its first weekend of play.

Cassie Weaver leads Marshall with 4.29 kills/set, while Taylor Pelton has 3.64. Kayla Simmons has a team-high 9.79 assists/set and Allie Kellerman leads the Herd with 4.71 digs/set.

Scouting the Crusaders
Holy Cross enters the weekend looking for its first victory of 2015 after an 0-3 weekend at Bryant’s Hampton Inn-vitational in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The Crusaders were defeated by Iona, Bryant, and Quinnipiac.

Mandy Sifferlen recorded 3.93 kills/set to lead the Crusaders in the opening weekend. Emily Popp is pacing Holy Cross with 4.21 digs/set, while Mary Mullen has tallied 1.07 blocks/set.

Bark Twice If You’re From Milwaukee
Freshman Morgan Kath was named America East Setter of the Week for her play in the season’s opening weekend. Kath tallied 9.18 assists/set over the Seawolves’ three matches, including 40 in a four-set win over Buffalo and 28 in a three-set match against No. 1 Penn State.

The Freshmen
All three first-year Seawolves have seen action in all four matches to begin the season. McKyla Brooks leads the team with a .293 hitting percentage, while Morgan Kath paces the squad in assists (9.13) and aces (0.60).

Up Next: Hofstra
The Seawolves open up the home portion of the 2015 schedule with a match against Long Island foe Hofstra Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at Pritchard Gymnasium. It is the first of 12 home matches for the Seawolves during the regular season.
