The Stony Brook volleyball team hosts Long Island foe Hofstra in the Seawolves’ home opener at Pritchard Gymnasium Tuesday night.

Scouting the Pride
Hofstra enters Tuesday’s match at 4-4 after an 0-3 weekend at the Seton Hall Classic. The Pride fell in four sets to Temple Friday before dropping five-set matches to Seton Hall and Notre Dame Saturday.
Veronika Kostova leads the Pride with 4.13 kills/set, while Leticia Valente is hitting a team-best .357. Hannah Klem leads the Pride with 11.09 assists/set and Michela Rucli has tallied a team-leading 1.44 blocks/set.
Homeward Bound
Tuesday’s match, the eighth of the season for the Seawolves, will be their first of 2015 at home in Pritchard Gymnasium.
Big Dig
Senior Lo Hathaway broke the Seawolves’ program record for digs Saturday vs. Holy Cross, passing Jessica Serrano with the 1,531st of her Stony Brook career.
Nicole World
Senior Nicole Vogel was named to the all-tournament team at the Fairfield Invite. She joins Kathy Fletcher as Seawolves to earn an all-tournament nod this fall, as Fletcher received the honor at the Penn State Classic.
The Freshmen
All three first-year Seawolves have seen action in all seven matches to begin the season. McKyla Brooks leads the team with a .316 hitting percentage and 0.48 blocks/set, while Morgan Kath paces the squad in assists (8.70) and aces (0.41).
Core Four
The 2015 Seawolves have the benefit of four seniors on the roster, including two redshirt seniors in Kathy Fletcher and Lo Hathaway. Stephanie McFadden and Nicole Vogel round out the group of seniors looking for the Seawolves’ first NCAA tournament appearance in Stony Brook’s Division I era which began in 1999.
Up Next: Mizuno Invitational
The Seawolves play their next four matches in California at the LBSU/LMU Mizuno Invitational. Stony Brook faces Oakland and Central Arkansas Friday in neutral-site matches before playing at both Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount Saturday.
