Boston - Stony Brook volleyball freshman McKyla Brooks (Blasdell, N.Y.) was named America East Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sept. 8, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Brooks hit .354 with 3.06 kills/set and 0.62 blocks/set during a four-match week for the Seawolves. In Saturday's victory over Holy Cross, Brooks hit .522 with 15 kills in the four-set win. For the year, Brooks is hitting .316 with 2.81 kills/set.

Tuesday marks the second consecutive week to open 2015 in which the Seawolves have garnered a weekly conference award.

Freshman Morgan Kath (Muskego, Wis.) was named America East Setter of the Week Aug. 31.
