Charlotte, N.C. - The Stony Brook softball team (1-3) dropped both of its games on Saturday at the Charlotte Invitational. The Seawolves fell to tournament-host Charlotte for the second time in as many games, 5-0, and was upended by Presbyterian, 8-2.
Bryant's Reaction
"We fought hard today but still need to see improvement in our approach at the plate, limiting free bases and defesnive execution," said head coach Megan Bryant.
Game One
Stony Brook's bats were held in check by the pitching of Charlotte's Haley Wiseman (3-0). The Seawolves mounted just two hits, singles by senior Allie Pisciotta (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and freshman Danielle Kemp (Milford, Conn.), en route to a 5-0 loss at Charlotte. The 49ers used a two-out rally in the bottom of the third to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The rally was escalated after a two-out error allowed the inning to continue. Charlotte tacked on runs in the fifth and sixth innings to hand senior pitcher Jane Sallen (Lake Worth, Fla.) her first loss of the season (1-1).
Game Two
Stony Brook had to fight an uphill battle vs. the Blue Hose after falling behind 5-0 through four innings. The deficit grew to 8-0 when the Seawolves misplayed a fly ball, allowing three runs to score. Pisciotta put Stony Brook on the board with an rbi double and came around to score when freshman Irene Rivera (Sylmar, Calif.) reached on an error but that was as close as Stony Brook would get as they fell 8-2.

- Freshmen Danielle Kemp (Milford, Conn.) and Rivera and sophomore Ileana Torres (Debary, Fla.) all recorded their first career hits.
