Stony Brook hosts Vermont in Saturday's regular season finale

Tip-Off: The Stony Brook men's basketball team will host Vermont Saturday in the regular season finale.  It's senior day as Jameel Warney, Carson Puriefoy and Rayshaun McGrew will be honored prior to the game.  Chris Villani and Frank Sullivan will call the action on ESPN3.  Josh Caray and Curt Hylton will broadcast the action on WHLI 1370 AM.

Opponent: Vermont enters Saturday's game with a four-game winning streak, including a 73-67 win over New Hampshire on Wednesday.  Trae Bell-Haynes, who had 16 points against the Wildcats, leads the team with 11.6 points per game.  Ethan O'Day is second with 11.4 points per game.  

Series: Vermont leads the series, 23-10, but Stony Brook has won two straight games.  In the first meeting this season, the Seawolves won 72-61 in Burlington on January 30.

Last Time Out: Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) led all scorers with 20 points as the Stony Brook men's basketball team defeated Maine, 75-56, Sunday at the Cross Insurance Center.

The win clinched the America East regular season title for the Seawolves (23-5, 14-1), who have earned home court advantage throughout the conference playoffs.

Warney shot 9 of 12 from the field and added a pair of free throws. He scored his 2,000th career point on a reverse layup with 7:18 left in regulation.

Seniors Rayshaun McGrew (Chicago, Ill.) and Carson Puriefoy (Wenonah, N.J.) added 14 points apiece.

Maine (8-19, 4-10) was led by Aaron Calixte and Till Gloger, who had 11 points apiece.

Up Next: Stony Brook, the top seed in the America East Playoffs, will host a quarterfinal game on Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m.
