Box Score March 25, 2016

Box Score

OMAHA, Neb. – Despite a four-run third inning, the Stony Brook baseball was not able to hold off Creighton on Friday night at TD Ameritrade Park in a 5-4 loss.

The Seawolves (8-10) plated four runs in the third to take a 4-0 lead, but the Blue Jays (14-4) chipped away with single runs in the fourth and sixth innings before they posted three in the eighth to complete the comeback. All five of Creighton’s runs were unearned.

Stony Brook got solid pitching performances from senior RHP Chad Lee (San Dimas, Calif.), the starters, and relievers senior RHP Tim Knesnik (Milford, Pa.) and sophomore LHP Teddy Rodliff (Quincy, Mass.). They combined to strike out five and allow no earned runs on nine hits.

Turning Point
Trailing the Seawolves 4-2 entering the eighth inning, Creighton took advantage of two Stony Brook errors and scored three runs to cap the comeback.

Quoting Head Coach Matt Senk
"The old adage is that pitching and defense wins games and our defense unfortunately didn't show up to support (Chad) Lee and (Teddy) Rodliff’s strong performances tonight."
