West Point, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's tennis team split two matches this past weekend, falling to Yale, 5-2, before blanking Siena, 7-0.

The Seawolves captured singles victories against the Bulldogs at No. 1 and No. 3.  Sophomore Elizabeth Tsvetkov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) beat Madeleine Hamilton, 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 and sophomore Yana Nikolaeva (Thornhill, Ontario) ousted Sherry Li, 6-3, 6-4.

Junior Nadia Smergut (New York, N.Y.) and senior Louise Badoche (Paris, France) battled after losing the first set in their singles matchces before falling in the third set.

The No. 2 doubles duo of Smergut and Badoche earned a 6-3 win over Ree Ree Li and Valerie Shklover.

Stony Brook dominated singles play against Siena, winning all six matches.

Nikolaeva won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles to lead four players who earned straight-set victories.

Freshman Devanshi Bhimjiyani (Rajkot, India) claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mitsuki Fukamachi and senior Becky Shtilkind (Brooklyn, N.Y.) won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Bhimjiyani and Shtilkind teamed for a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.

Stony Brook will face Niagara and Cornell in Ithaca next weekend.
