Senior Jameel Warney (Plainfield, N.J.) of the Stony Brook men's basketball team was named to the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District II Team, the organization announced Tuesday.
The district is comprised of student-athletes from schools in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Warney, a three-time America East Player and Defensive Player of the Year, leads the conference in scoring (19.0), rebounding (10.7) and blocked shots (3.0).
With his eighth point of the game against Hartford yesterday, he broke his own Division I program record for points in a season (589).
Warney is second in field goals made (856), third in double-doubles (58), fifth in rebounding (1,250), sixth in blocked shots (270) and seventh in points (2,066) among all active Division I players.
Warney is joined on the All-District Team by Villanova's Ryan Arcidiacono and Josh Hart, St. Joseph's Deandre Bembry, Iona's A.J. English, Syracuse's Michael Gbinije, West Virginia's Jaysean Paige and Devin Williams, Monmouth's Justin Robinson and Seton Hall's Isaiah Whitehead.
The Seawolves will host Vermont Saturday, March 12 at 11 a.m. in the America East Championship game, which will be televised on ESPN2.
