Bedell named College Sports Madness National FCS Offensive Player of the Week

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stacey Bedell, a junior running back on the Stony Brook football team, was named the College Sports Madness FCS Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Bedell, a native of Mastic Beach, N.Y., helped guide the Seawolves (2-1, 1-0 CAA Football) to a 42-14 victory over then-No. 2 Richmond this past Saturday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. He scored a career-best four touchdowns, including breaking a 49-yarder in the first quarter that gave Stony Brook a lead they would not relinquish.

Bedell recorded the ninth 100-yard rushing game of his career with exactly 100 yards on 17 carries against the Spiders.

College Sports Madness identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team from each conference and on a national basis each week.

Bedell was named as one for four finalists for the American Sports Network's FCS Game Changer of the Week. Fans can vote here until 5 p.m. ET on Thursday.

Sherman Alston Jr., the CAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week after his 96-yard kickoff return for touchdown, was chosen as a nominee for the FCS defensive/special teams HERO of the Week by HERO Sports. Fans can vote here until
Friday.

The Seawolves renew the rivalry with former Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.  Click here to purchase tickets.
