Stony Brook travels to Siena in third meet of the season

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook swimming and diving is set for its third meet of the season on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Siena for a 1 p.m. start.

Stony Brook swimming and diving competed for the second time in the 2017-18 season following a five-year hiatus, falling vs. LIU Brooklyn and Sacred Heart in the Sacred Heart Tri-Meet on Oct. 28, 2017.

Junior Cassie Shear (Johannesburg, South Africa) won the Seawolves' first event in the program's return, posting a 1:10.99 time in the 100-yard Breaststroke.
 
Head Coach Janelle Atkinson
Stony Brook named two-time Olympian Janelle Atkinson as the head women's swimming & diving coach on Feb. 12, 2017. Atkinson heads into her first season at Stony Brook after spending the past three seasons as the head coach of Fairfield's men's and women's swimming & diving programs.
 
Stony Brook Officially Re-Opens University Pool
The Stony Brook University and the Department of Athletics held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony to re-open University Pool on Monday, May 15. The multi-million dollar renovations began in January of 2015 when the existing pool was completely demolished, including the removal of the existing pool deck level. The Seawolves first home meet of the season is on Nov. 18, as the program will take on Saint Peter's at 4 p.m.

Stony Brook enters the new season with 11 student-athletes on its roster. Lexie BakkeEmily CabralSara ChinAva DemayoIrene DuNoelle PerroneArianna RodriguezCassie Shear,Tess Stepakoff and Schuyler Withington will join the Seawolves in 2017-18 as the first swimming and diving student-athletes Stony Brook has had since the program was placed on competitive hiatus in 2012-13.

Siena enters Saturday's meet with a 4-0 record, falling in a tri-meet vs. Binghamton and Niagara its last time out.
