Box Score STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Senior
Christa Scognamiglio (Orangeburg, N.Y.) posted her second double-double of the season and was one of four Seawolves in double figures in the Stony Brook women's basketball team's 51-37 win over UMBC Thursday night at Island Federal Credit Union Arena. With the win, the Seawolves improve to 12-16 and 5-10 in the America East, while the Retrievers drop to 15-13 and 10-5 in conference play.
Coach McCombs' Take
"I was really excited with our start. We came out with a lot of energy, attacking them early on. To get that lead at home – where we've struggled a little bit to score – gave our ladies some confidence at the start of the game. We said in the locker room at halftime that we needed to keep attacking, and I thought we did a good job of doing that."
Turning Point
The Seawolves jumped in front early and never looked back, opening the game on a 12-0 run. Stony Brook would compel UMBC to burn a pair of timeouts after back-to-back three-pointers by senior
Kori Bayne-Walker (Rochester, N.Y.) and Scognamiglio, as the Seawolves led 26-6 with three minutes remaining in the half and 30-10 at the break.

- Scognamiglio's 12 rebounds were one shy of her career-high, as the senior guard grabbed 13 boards at Wagner, Dec. 18, 2015.
