STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook women's soccer hits the road for two more games this weekend, traveling to Sacred Heart for its non-conference finale on Friday, Sept. 22 (12 p.m.) before heading to Maine for the 2017 America East opener on Sunday, Sept. 24 (1 p.m.)

Latest in Stony Brook Women's Soccer
  • Stony Brook earned its third victory of the 2017 season on Sunday, Sept. 17, scoring a season-high six goals in the win over Wagner. All six of the program's goals in the victory came from freshmen. Alyssa Francese (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) recorded a hat trick in the win – the first three goals of her collegiate career. Rachel Florenz (East Islip, N.Y.) scored twice in the second half, and Kimmy Chavkin (Franklin, N.J.) chipped in with a goal of her own.
  • The Seawolves rank No. 3 in the conference in total offense, scoring 1.33 goals-per-game.
  • Following her three-goal performance, Francese has been named America East women's soccer Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, Sept. 18.
  • Florenz has also been named America East women's soccer Rookie of the Week twice thus far in 2017. The freshman has a team-high five goals in nine games.
  • Head Coach Brendan Faherty guided the Seawolves to a 9-8-3 record during his first year with the program in 2016. The team earned its first America East playoff appearance since the 2013 season after notching a Division-I era record six straight conference wins in league play. Faherty earned America East Coach of the Year honors, and saw six players earn all-conference accolades, including two on the first team.
Scouting Sacred Heart
  • Sacred Heart is 3-6-0 so far in 2017, 2-0 at home.
  • Melanie DaSilva and Alex Mesropyan lead the team with three goals each, while  junior goalkeeper Nicole Sambuco has a 1.85 goals-against average and a .742 save percentage for the season.
  • The Seawolves are 2-3-2 all-time against the Pioneers, most recently playing to a draw on Aug. 21, 2016 at LaValle Stadium.
Scouting Maine
  • Maine is 2-5-1 so far in 2017, most recently falling to Cornell in non-conference action.
  • Kayla Brace has a team-high two goals, while goalkeeper Annalena Kriebisch has a 1.32 goals-against average and a .804 save percentage so far this year.
  • Stony Brook is 13-11-0 all-time vs. Maine. The Seawolves won the last meeting between the two programs, 2-0, on Oct. 13, 2016 at LaValle Stadium.
