Seawolves Release 2018 Slate

Complete Schedule

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball program and head coach Kristin Belzung have announced the 2018 schedule. Coming off of their first NCAA Tournament appearance and America East Tournament Championship, the Seawolves will play in three tournaments before capping off preseason play with the Stony Brook Invite by Holiday Inn Express.

"With the end of season goal in mind to defend our America East Championship, it is important we challenge the team in the preseason," said Belzung. "I feel like we have a more veteran group that we think will gain some toughness through our 2018 schedule. In addition to a big trip across the country to 2017 NCAA Tournament participant, Washington State, we have more opportunities for our fans to see us at home this fall. Our home opener against St. John's will be a great first chance to pack Pritchard and our very evenly-matched home tournament will be a great opportunity for our fans to really get to know our team prior to America East play."

The Seawolves will start 2018 with a trip to South Florida, where they will face Jacksonville, San Jose State and the host Bulls Aug. 24 and 25. The team will return to New York, but remain on the road for a midweek match at Hofstra on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.

Stony Brook will break up tournaments at Akron and Washington State with a home match against nearby St. John's on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m.

The Stony Brook Invite by Holiday Inn Express will be held Friday, Sept. 14 through Sunday, Sept. 16 and feature Delaware, Colgate and Bryant.

The Seawolves will begin conference play with three straight matches on the road before hosting Albany on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in their America East home opener. They will play three straight home matches before breaking up league play with a trip to Iona on Sunday, Oct. 21.

Stony Brook will host New Hampshire and UMass Lowell on Oct. 26 and 28, respectively, in its final two matches in Pritchard before wrapping up the regular season with trips to Albany, UMBC and Binghamton. The America East Championships will be held Nov. 17-19. The league's top team will host the four-team tournament.
