Ryland Rees and former Stony Brook standout
Kevin Crowley have been named to Team Canada's 23-man roster, set to participate in the 2018 FIL World Championship. The Championship is being played in Netanya, Israel, running July 12 through July 21. Team Canada will open play on Friday, July 13, taking on England in its first game.
Rees led the Seawolves in ground balls and caused turnovers for the second straight season, also adding eight points on the year. The long stick middie earned America East All-Conference First Team and All-ECAC First Team honors following an impressive junior season. Rees, a native of Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, was a member of Team Canada's U19 silver medal team, playing for his home country in the 2016 World Championship. He was named to the All-World Team and earned Defensive MVP honors. Rees is one of three active NCAA players on the current Canadian National Team roster.
Crowley is currently playing professionally for the New England Black Wolves of the National Lacrosse League, as well as Major League Lacrosse's Charlotte Hounds. The 2011 Stony Brook graduate ranks top five all-time in program history in goals, assists and points. He was name USILA Midfielder of the Year in 2011, and was a recipient of the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The New Westminster, B.C., native will make his return to Team Canada after helping the squad to a gold medal at the 2014 world championships.
