Yeboah Named to Lou Henson Award Midseason Watch List

BOSTON – Redshirt junior Akwasi Yeboah (Chigwell, England) was named to the Midseason Watch List for the 2019 Lou Henson Award, given to the best mid-major basketball player in the country.

In 16 appearances, Yeboah is averaging 18 points and seven rebounds per game and is coming off his fourth double-double of the 2018-19 campaign, tallying 13 points and 13 rebounds in a 59-47 win over Binghamton on Wednesday night.

He has recorded double-digit point outings in 15 of his appearances this season, overcoming the 20-point mark in seven of those. His 13 boards on Wednesday are a season high and represent the fourth time the English forward has cracked double figures on the glass.

Yeboah is the lone player who has played in each of the last three seasons on the Seawolves roster, leading them to the second-most wins of any team in the country entering Thursday's action.

He is one of two America East players on the list, joining Vermont's Anthony Lamb. The award is named after former college basketball coach Lou Henson, who walked the sidelines for 41 years as the head man at New Mexico State and Illinois before retiring in 2005. He is one of 12 coaches to take two different teams to the Final Four.

Yeboah and the Seawolves return home on Saturday afternoon, taking on New Hampshire at 7 p.m. to try and extend the team's winning streak to five. For tickets, click here or call 631-632-WOLF (9653).
