BOSTON, MASS.- Graduate student
Emily Costello (Webster, N.Y.) was named America East Volleyball Scholar-Athlete, as announced by the league Thursday afternoon. America East Scholar-Athletes are honored for displaying academic excellence both in this past season, and throughout their careers.
Costello is currently finishing up her Master's degree in Business Administration. This past May, she graduated Cum Laude with a Business Management degree, with double specialization in Accounting and Marketing. In her time as an undergraduate, she was named to the Dean's List seven out of the eight semesters.
The Webster, New York native continued her success in the classroom as a graduate student ending the fall semester with a 3.87 GPA, which earned her America East Commissioner's Honor Roll and was in Stony Brook's Society of Distinguished Scholar Athletes.
This is Costello's second academic honor from the conference, as she was also named to the 2018 All-Academic Team after finishing her undergraduate degree with a 3.51 GPA.
On top of all of her academic accomplishments, Costello was a key contributor to the Seawolves winning their second straight conference championship. The graduate student finished the 2018 season leading the team in kills (314), earned America East First Team honors, and was named Most Outstanding Player on the All-Championship Team.
