Seawolves Head to Delaware, Philly for First Road Trip of 2019

STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's soccer team hits the road for its first two away contests of the 2019 campaign, taking on Delaware Friday night and Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon.
 
The Seawolves are coming off a pair of wins in their opening weekend, dramatically beating Northeastern 2-1 in overtime and knocking off Manhattan by the same scoreline on Sunday afternoon.

Seawolves Notes
  • Junior Fanny Götesson (Varnamo, Sweden) recorded points in both contests over the weekend, recording an assist in Thursday's game and scoring the game winner on Sunday.
  • Classmate Cheslie DePonte (Honolulu, Hawaii) had a brace in Thursday's game, scoring the tying goal in the 13th minute and game winner in the 91st.
  • It was her first career multi-goal game.
  • Sophomore Ranae Ward (Trincity, Trinidad) scored her first career goal in the 36th minute on Sunday. It was her second career shot.
  • Stony Brook was unbeaten in three of its last four road contests to end the 2018 season.
  • With 20 saves to her name to start the season, junior Sofia Manner (Helsinki, Finland) sits 14th in the country in saves per game. 
The Series with Delaware
  • The Blue Hens have won two of the three matchups with the Seawolves, with both victories coming on neutral fields.
  • Stony Brook has won the most recent meeting, 2-1, at LaValle Stadium in 2016.
Scouting Delaware
  • The Blue Hens won a pair of 2-0 decisions on opening weekend, defeating Lehigh and Lafayette on the road to start 2019.
  • Alexis Montgomery scored a pair of goals over the weekend, with Jessica Kennett and Claudia Benz also adding tallies for Delaware.
  • They are coming off a 4-12-2 season and a berth in CAA Quarterfinals in which they lost 1-0 to eventual conference champion Hofstra.
  • In net, Kamryn Stablein has played all 180 minutes while not allowing a goal. She's made 10 saves in two appearances this season.
The Series with Saint Joseph's
  • There has been one all-time matchup between the Hawks and Seawolves, with Saint Joseph's winning 1-0 in overtime during the 2003 campaign.
Scouting Saint Joseph's
  • The Hawks went unbeaten in their opening weekend against a pair of Big 5 rivals in Drexel and Villanova.
  • They defeated Drexel in their season opener 1-0 before drawing in double overtime against Villanova at 1-1.
  • Gabrielle Vagnozzi scored the winner against the Dragons and Aleksa Peev ensured a point with a goal on Sunday.
  • Cameron Perrott earned the win for St. Joe's against Drexel and Emily Cuccio made eight saves in 110 minutes of action against Villanova.
