STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Ariel Epstein, a Rockland County, New York, native, has joined the broadcast team for Stony Brook football's inaugural season on SNY in 2019.
Epstein will serve as the sideline reporter and join Jonny Wincott and Erik Coleman on the broadcasts.
Two weeks ago the athletics department announced a new television partnership with SportsNet New York (SNY) starting with the upcoming 2019 football season. SNY first game will be this Saturday's contest against Wagner in Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
Epstein joins the team having vast experience behind the microphone. Most recently she was the field reporter and in-stadium host for the Can-Am League's Rockland Boulders. For two and a half years she was the Weekend Sports Anchor & Sports Reporter for NewsChannel 12 in New Bern, N.C.
With the NewsChannel 12 team, Ariel covered the Carolina Panthers, the ACC, ECU athletics and high school sports. She co-hosted the station's high school football show "The Blitz" on Friday nights and was part of the team sent to Williamsport, Pa., to cover the Little League World Series.
Prior to WCTI, the New York native interned with the New York Yankees where she interviewed high profile personalities such as Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez and Joe Torre. She edited video features that aired on Yankees.com and the center field scoreboard.
Ariel wrote for numerous websites in her time at Syracuse University where she graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School in 2016. With SB Nation, she covered the New York Liberty and USA Basketball's Women's Team at Madison Square Garden. For Scout.com, she served as a beat writer for the New York Mets and New York Giants publishing articles daily for the site.
In addition to this week's game, the broadcast team of Wincott, Coleman and Epstein will call the remaining home games that air on SNY and FloSports.
