OTTAWA, Ontario — Stony Brook men's lacrosse freshman
Noah Armitage has moved within one step of representing his native Canada in the 2020 World Lacrosse Men's U19 World Championship this summer.
The 6-foot-3 Armitage, who hails from New Westminster, B.C., is part of a group of 32 Canadian players who has advanced to a second evaluation camp from an original field of 73 that tried out over three days in Oshawa, Ontario, in October.
The World Championship will be held July 9-18 in Limerick, Ireland.
The second evaluation camp to select a final Team Canada roster will take place in the spring.
"I have dreamed about being able to wear the red and white ever since I was young," said Armitage, an attackman at Stony Brook, who was moved to midfield during the Team Canada tryout. "Getting the opportunity to make it a reality is an honor in itself. I'm ready and confident that I will be able to attack the opportunity this upcoming spring and achieve my goal."
Said Matt Brown, head coach of the 2020 Canadian U19 men's field lacrosse team: "This is a talented group, and getting to 23 won't be easy."
