STONY BROOK, N.Y. — India Pagan helped lead the Stony Brook women's basketball team to the best season in program history in 2019-20 while individually earning first-team All-America East honors.
Now entering her senior season with the Seawolves, Pagan continues to receive recognition.
Pagan, a 6-foot-1 forward from New London, Conn., was named to the 2020-21 America East Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team on Tuesday.
Stony Brook, the reigning conference champion, which posted a program-best 28-3 record last season, was edged by Maine for first place in the conference's preseason poll as voted by the league's coaches.
The Seawolves open their season Nov. 25 against Fordham at Island Federal Arena.
Pagan's achievements last season also included America East All-Academic Team and Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association All-Met Second Team. She averaged 13.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and registered 21 double-digit scoring outings in 2019-20.
Pagan was joined on the preseason all-conference list by UMass Lowell's Kharis Idom and Maine's Maeve Carroll, Blanca Millan and Dor Saar.
"It's such an honor to get it for the second year in a row," Pagan said. "My accomplishments are team accomplishments, so add this one to our list. I'm super thankful and super blessed to be chosen preseason all-conference. I just want to keep getting better, growing and expanding my game to help my team any way I can. I'm ready to start my senior year and go out with a bang."
