Michael Bollinger's Stellar Week Continues with USILA Team of Week Honor

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Michael Bollinger had a storybook weekend, setting a career high for saves in an overtime victory against Brown, then being featured on Fox 5 New York for his volunteerism with the Holbrook Fire Department.

Bollinger, a senior business management major, also caught the eye of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

The USILA named Bollinger as the goalkeeper on its Team of the Week on Tuesday.

Bollinger then went out and backed up that billing in the evening, making 16 saves in a 14-11 win against Hofstra at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.

In the 11-10 OT win against Brown on Saturday, Bollinger recorded a career-high 22 saves.

Through four games this season, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Bollinger is 3-1 with a 12.11 GAA and career-high .569 save percentage.

The Seawolves' next test come Saturday at noon at Rutgers.

"What he does is very rare in this world of college athletics," coach Anthony Gilardi said about Bollinger. "I think when you talk about the time commitment of school, full-time lacrosse player, starting goalie, and then the volunteer work on the side, it's special. I think we need more kids like that."
