STONY BROOK, N.Y. — One of Stony Brook's own is among the nation's best assistant coaches.
Assistant Coach
Dan Rickard, now entering his 11
th total season over two stints with the men's basketball program, was named one of the "50 Impactful Low Major Assistants" by SilverWaves Media.
"I appreciate the recognition and it is an honor to be listed with these talented coaches," Rickard said. "I've been fortunate enough to work for some excellent mentors and I've been surrounded by some of the best student-athletes in the country during my time at Stony Brook."
To be considered for the list, one could not have any head coaching experience, while working at a school across 13 conferences. The organization consulted with athletic directors, presidents and search firms to present the list.
Rickard helped the Seawolves offense explode in 2019-20, breaking the single-season, 3-point record as well as place in the top five in the program's Division I history in scoring offense for a single season.
