STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Add a deep threat to Stony Brook's arsenal.
Butler Community College transfer Juwan White, who finished the year shooting 40.7 percent from three, has signed with the men's basketball team.
"Juwan should come in and compete for playing time immediately," head coach
Geno Ford said. "He has tremendous speed and power for a guard. He had a really good career at Butler and we see him being a real asset for our program. He brings the offensive ability to shoot the three and get to the basket, which will be a huge help for us."
White had a couple of games where he caught fire from long range, making all five of his deep shots on Nov. 15 in a 22-point game and adding a pair of games where he hit all three of his attempts from beyond the arc.
In addition to his deep-threat abilities, he also made 44.1 percent of his overall shots and 77.4 percent from the charity stripe, completing his resume as an all-around scoring threat. He recorded a double-double against Cloud County on Feb. 13, snatching 10 rebounds to accompany his 13 points.
White will bring lots of experience to the guard spot, playing in 59 total games in two years with Butler.
