STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The race to reach the America East championship match is going down to the final day of the regular season. And a pair of Stony Brook volleyball freshmen helped the Seawolves remain in contention.

As a result, Abby Campbell was named America East Player of the Week and Torri Henry was named Setter of the Week on Wednesday.

Campbell, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Reading, Pa., had a 36.2 hitting percentage and 48 kills as the Seawolves swept Hartford and split with previously unbeaten UAlbany.

Henry, a 5-8 setter from Belton, Mo., had 178 assists over the four matches, including a career-high 53 on Sunday against Hartford.

Stony Brook (6-4) sits in third place in America East, with a pair of matches on Sunday against winless Binghamton remaining.

The Seawolves will need to catch second-place UMBC (7-3), which has a doubleheader against Hartford left on its schedule.

UMBC owns the tiebreaker by virtue of a pair of five-set wins at Pritchard Gymnasium to close February.

The top two teams in America East will compete for the conference's title.

UAlbany already has secured first place.

"The entire team stepped up this weekend in a tough situation for a lot of reasons," Stony Brook coach Kristin Belzung said. "I thought Torri gave our attackers good opportunities, but her scramble defensively and on imperfect passes allowed us to keep plays alive and gave her attackers chances to score in tight situations. And Abby really had a consistent weekend in terms of her scoring. She has such a big hitting window and is able to see and carve around the block to score. Both her and Enitan [Omolewa] having success will force defenses to pay them more attention, which is a great thing for us moving into an important weekend."
