STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Colin Cosell loosened his vocal cords for the upcoming New York Mets season at Joe Nathan Field on Friday.
Cosell, who shares PA duties at Citi Field with Marysol Castro, introduced the starting lineups and batters during the Stony Brook baseball team's series-opening win against Hartford.

Matt Senk said the experience was like being at Citi Field.
"It was exactly what I needed," said Cosell, the grandson of legendary broadcaster Howard Cosell. "I needed to get warmed up for the major league season. Because of no spring training for us at least, as PA announcers, this was the tune-up I needed."
Cosell will do PA for the Mets' home opener next Thursday against the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.
"Honestly, the best part about it is calling the starting lineups and the interaction with the fans," Cosell said. "When you announce a player's name who is hot, or who is an All-Star, or an all-world player like a Jacob deGrom or Peter Alonso or Francisco Lindor, you say that name and fans are just going to react to it. That's my bread and butter. That synergy cannot be topped."
Cosell had cut his teeth as a youngster doing play-by-play on Long Island. That experience included doing his first-ever high school football game while at Verizon FiOS 1 Sports at adjacent Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on campus.
"This is my first collegiate-level anything," Cosell said about Friday's experience with Stony Brook baseball. "And now I feel tuned up and ready to go to Citi Field."
Cosell pledged to return next year and make his visits an annual event.
