NEWARK, N.J. — The meet over a year in the making is finally under way.
Mary Kate Conway and
Briana Liew swam top-10 times in the 500 free and 50 free, respectively, and Day 1 of the America East Championships concluded with the Seawolves sitting in sixth place.
Conway was the top finisher for the Seawolves on Day 1, clocking in at 5:05.58 in the 500 free in her first America East Championship meet. Liew finished two spots below in 10th in the 50 free, swimming the down and back in 24.48 seconds. The freshman knocked more than a second off her seed time entering the meet in her debut appearance at the championship.
Liew also started the meet as part of the squad's 200 medley relay. The group knocked 6.29 seconds off its submitted time, finishing in 1:46.10.
Saturday's action begins at 11 a.m., highlighted by the 200 free relay, where the Seawolves' entry time sits inside a second from the podium, and the 400 medley relay, in which Stony Brook's time currently sits third. Four of the five individual events also feature Seawolves who are inside the top four entering the races.
