After Reaching 200-Goal Plateau, Taryn Ohlmiller Named AE Player of Week

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Taryn Ohmiller came within a goal of joining Courtney Murphy and Demmianne Cook as the program recordholder for goals in a game.

And on Monday, Ohlmiller was rewarded for her eight-goal outburst against UMBC with the final America East Offensive Player of the Week Award of the 2021 season.

Ohlmiller, a graduate student from Islip, combined to produce 11 goals and four assists in lopsided wins at New Hampshire and against the Retrievers.

On Saturday, she joined Courtney Murphy (NCAA-record 341), sister Kylie Ohlmiller (252) and teammate Ally Kennedy (245) as the only players in program history to reach the 200-goal plateau.

The top-seeded Seawolves have a repeat matchup against fourth-seeded UMBC on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in an America East semifinal at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.

Stony Brook has won 52 straight games against America East opponents.

For the season, Ohlmiller leads the Seawolves with 71 points (34 goals, 37 assists).

Cook originally established the program record with nine goals against Monmouth in 2012. Murphy then matched that goal output against UMass Lowell in 2016.
