The Seawolves put 10 points on the board in the first quarter as they took control of the game early and led 10-3 going into the second quarter. After an opening drive field goal by William & Mary, Stony Brook added a field goal of its own as redshirt junior kicker
Angelo Guglielmello drilled a 27-yard attempt to tie the game up at 3-3.

Eric Black blew past the William & Mary offensive line and disrupted Tribe quarterback Darius Wilson who lofted a pass into the air that was intercepted by graduate linebacker
Reidgee Dimanche with 1:41 to play in the opening quarter.
Following the pick, Stony Brook was set up at the William & Mary 10-yard line as a penalty on the Tribe brought the Seawolves into the red zone. On the second play of the drive, redshirt freshman quarterback
Daron Bryden whipped a pass over to Tallarico who came out of the backfield to make the catch and darted his way into the end zone for his first career touchdown from seven yards out.
The teams traded possessions in the second quarter until William & Mary place kicker Ethan Chang drilled a 57-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to cut the Seawolves' lead to 10-6.
