PHILADELPHIA – The Stony Brook men's soccer team gave up a first minute goal and was unable to top the Temple Owls in a 2-0 defeat on Tuesday night at the Temple Sports Complex.
Temple graduate defender Fabian Grant drilled a shot from outside of the 18-yard box into the top right corner of the cage to start the scoring off. It was his second goal of the season.
Stony Brook senior goalkeeper
Edmond Kaiser kept the Seawolves within reach of Temple, making four first half saves. Tonight's contest marked Kaiser's seventh start of the season.
Despite Kaiser's efforts, the Owls continued to control the first 45 minutes when freshman defender Sawyer Koza scored his third career goal to make it, 2-0, in the 26
th minute.
The Seawolves fought hard in the second half without conceding a goal, but were unable to find the back of the net.
STATS AND NOTES
- Kaiser finished the match with six saves, his most in his last four appearances. He has made five or more saves in a match four times this season.
- The Seawolves took 14 shots, with three going on target. Nine players recorded a shot and Amit Magoz led the way with a career-high three shots.
- The meeting between Stony Brook and Temple was the first since the 2011 season when the Seawolves earned a 4-3 win in Philadelphia.

Stony Brook will finish its four-game road trip on Saturday, October 22, when it clashes with UNCW in Wilmington, North Carolina, at 2 p.m. It marks the final road game of the regular season for the Seawolves.
