BOSTON, Mass. –The Stony Brook volleyball team had three different members record double-digit kills today, but it wasn't enough as the Seawolves were narrowly defeated in four sets, 23-25, 13-25, 25-23, 19-25, on Sunday afternoon at Northeastern University. The Huskies knocked off the squad for the second day in a row, falling in a five-set thriller yesterday.
The Seawolves and Huskies had a back-and-forth affair in the first set that saw 12 ties and six lead changes. The squad took the lead to 21-19, but a late Northeastern push gave the team from Boston the edge in the first set.
After falling in the second set, Stony Brook bounced right back with a dramatic 25-23 victory to keep them alive in the match. Junior Lauren Schmitz sealed the deal for the Seawolves, smashing back-to-back kills when the third set was tied, 23-23, to ultimately give the squad the set.
The fourth set was a slow start for Stony Brook, going down 8-2, forcing a timeout for the visitors. The Seawolves recuperated after a quick meeting and went on a 9-2 run to take an 11-10 lead. Junior Abby Campbell collected two kills and a block in the run and freshman Kali Moore collected her 12th kill of the match to give the squad the lead. In the match of runs, the Huskies 8-1 dash gave Northeastern an 18-12 lead and ultimately the final set, 25-19.

QUOTES FROM THE SEAWOLVES
"Defensively we were not crisp in stopping Northeastern's main attackers. In addition, they were able to run strings of points against us and we were unable to recover. This one is a gut punch, but we will have an opportunity to test our resilience moving forward. I have faith our group will be able to recover and come back to practice hungry to compete," said head coach Kristin Belzung.
