STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men's lacrosse head coach Anthony Gilardi has announced the team's 2023 schedule on Monday. The Seawolves are slated to play 14 regular season games, which includes their inaugural seven-game CAA schedule, and matchups with 2022 NCAA Tournament teams Rutgers, Brown, and Delaware this season.

"We are excited for this new chapter in our history as we enter the CAA. We have built a tough non-conference schedule that features two NCAA Tournament teams from last year in Rutgers, who went to the Final Four, and Brown as well as several games against regional rivals. We believe that our non-league schedule will prepare us for a competitive CAA slate and we look forward to getting the 2023 season underway," said head coach Anthony Gilardi.

Stony Brook opens the season on Saturday, February 11, when it travels to Piscataway, N.J. to take on Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights are coming off of an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2022 and the contest with be a rematch of last season's thriller between the two teams at LaValle Stadium, a game Rutgers narrowly won, 17-16.

The Seawolves go head-to-head with another Big Ten opponent a week later on Saturday, February 18, when they face Penn State. It marks the first time since 2019 that Stony Brook and Penn State will meet and it will be the Seawolves' first trip to University Park since the 2018 season.

After opening the season on the road, Stony Brook comes home to LaValle Stadium for a three-game homestand from February 24-March 4. The Seawolves host Air Force for their home opener on Friday, February 24. The meeting between Stony Brook and Air Force marks the teams' first meeting since March 27, 2003, when the Seawolves earned a 5-2 victory.

Stony Brook has a quick turnaround following its matchup with the Falcons as it will then host Sacred Heart on Sunday, February 26. The Seawolves wrap up their three-game homestand on Saturday, March 4, when they face Brown, who made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season.

The Seawolves wrap up their non-conference slate with a pair of games against Big East opponents. Stony Brook travels to Providence to take on the Friars on Saturday, March 11. It will be the first meeting between the teams since April 5, 2000, when the Seawolves earned a 12-5 win.

The Seawolves conclude non-conference play on Tuesday, March 14, against St. John's at LaValle Stadium. Stony Brook has won each of its last six meetings with the Red Storm including a 17-10 win against them last season in the Long Island Cup.

Stony Brook's inaugural CAA schedule includes seven games (three home, four away) and it will face three of its league foes for the first time in history. The Seawolves begin their conference slate on the road as they travel to Hampton on Saturday, March 18, and Monmouth on Saturday, March 25. The games against Hampton and Monmouth will be Stony Brook's first-ever matchups with their new conference members.

Three of the Seawolves' final five conference games will be played at LaValle Stadium. Stony Brook hosts Towson on Saturday, April 1. The Seawolves then head to Drexel to face the Dragons for the first time in history on Saturday, April 8.
