STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook football head coach
Chuck Priore has announced the signing of 13 student-athletes on Wednesday's early National Signing Day. All 13 student-athletes are set to join the Seawolves' roster for the 2023 season.
"This signing class gives us diversity. The early signees gave us the balance that we were looking for. The class is made up of young men that have great character, did well in school, and are good football players," said head coach
Chuck Priore as he discussed the Seawolves' 13 early signees.

Charles Allen III | Offensive Lineman | Vauxhall, N.J.
Allen is a 6-foot-5, offensive lineman from Vauxhill, N.J. He currently attends Hillside High School, where he is a captain on the football team. During his high school career, he earned All-Conference First Team honors twice (2021 and 2022) and he was ranked the No. 6 player in Union County in 2022. He concluded his career by earning All-State Third Team and All-Group 3 First Team honors this season. He did not allow a sack during both his junior and senior seasons for the Comets.
Jacob Amburn | Tight End | Suffield, Conn.
Amburn is a 6-foot-5, tight end from Suffield, Conn. He currently attends the Kingswood Oxford School, where he is a four-year member of the varsity football team. Amburn plays tight end and defensive end at Suffield and is also a member of the varsity lacrosse team as a long stick midfielder. He is a four-year captain of both his football and lacrosse teams. Amburn was an All-NEPSAC selection in each of the last two years on the gridiron. As a senior in 2022, he totaled three receiving touchdowns.
Parker Bolesta | Linebacker | Dallas, Pa.
Bolesta is a 6-foot-0, linebacker from Dallas, Pa. and played football at Dallas High School where he competed on both sides of the ball and was a team captain in 2021 and 2022. Bolesta and the Mountaineers went 36-11 over four seasons, including a 15-1 record in 2019 to earn second-place in the state. As a senior in 2022, he led his team to a 9-3 record to conclude his high school career. As a junior, he earned All-Conference and All-District First Team honors. Bolesta ended his senior year on the WVC Offense and Defense First Team, was named the WVC Offensive Player of the Year, and was tabbed to the District 2 First Team. He is the younger brother of Stony Brook defensive lineman
Taylor Bolesta.
Brandon "Bam" Boria | Running Back | Marlton, N.J.
Boria is a 5-foot-8, running back from Marlton, N.J. He attends Cherokee High School, where he is a four-year member of the varsity football team and was a three-year member of the varsity wrestling team. He was elected captain of the football team in 2021 and 2022. During his high school football career, Boria has earned several honors. He is a two-time All-Conference Running Back (2020 and 2021), All-South Jersey Running Back (2020 and 2021), and All-State Running Back (2020 and 2021). Boria earned an Under Armour All-American Combine invite in 2021. In the classroom, he was a member of the honor roll.
Shakhi Carson | Running Back | West Orange, N.J.
Carson is a 5-foot-9, running back from West Orange, N.J. and joins Stony Brook as a transfer from Kent State. The running back spent one season as a member of the Kent State football team and appeared in two games during the 2022 campaign. He made his collegiate debut on September 17, and rushed for 61 yards on six carries against LIU. Prior to beginning his collegiate career at Kent State, Carson attended West Orange High School in New Jersey. As a senior, he averaged nearly seven yards a carry and 10 touchdowns as a rusher and nearly 10 yards a catch out of the backfield.
Casey Case | Quarterback | Winter Park, Fla.
Case is a 6-foot-6, quarterback from Winter Park, Fla. and is set to join the Seawolves after spending the first three years of his collegiate career at Buffalo. While at Buffalo, he appeared in one game in 2021 after redshirting his first season in 2020. Before his collegiate career began, he was a two-year starter at Winter Park High School in Florida. The quarterback threw for 2,265 yards and 22 touchdowns his senior season. Over his two seasons as a starter, he threw for 3,567 yards and 41 touchdowns. Case served as a team captain during his senior season of high school.
Dyshier Clary | Defensive Lineman | East Camden, N.J.
Clary is a 6-foot-2, defensive lineman from East Camden, N.J. and joins Stony Brook following a three-year career at Temple. Clary recorded his first career tackle in Temple's 2021 season opener against Akron. The defensive lineman made his collegiate debut against SMU during the 2020 season. He was tabbed to the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team following the 2021 campaign. Before his collegiate career began, he was a two-year letterwinner at defensive end for at Woodrow Wilson High School. As a senior, he helped the team go 10-2 and win the NJSIAA South/Central Group 3 Regional Championship. During that season, he collected 17.0 sacks, 70 tackles and three forced fumbles en route to All-State recognition. As a junior, he had 10.0 sacks and 60 tackles earning All-Conference honors.
Wyatt Cooper | Tight End | Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Cooper is a 6-foot-6, tight end from Mechanicsburg, Pa. He attends Trinity High School, where he plays tight end and defensive end. He also played basketball and lacrosse in each of the first three years of high school. Cooper was captain of the football and basketball teams, and earned All-Conference honors in lacrosse as a junior. He totaled eight catches for 52 yards in 2022 and helped lead his team to the state semifinals. He was a member of the honor roll in the classroom. Cooper's father Joseph played football at Maryland from 1988-93 and his grandfather James Cassidy played football at Bucknell from 1969-73.
Jerrod Hills | Defensive End | Syracuse, N.Y.
Hills is a 6-foot-6, defensive end from Syracuse, N.Y. He was a four-year member of the Cicero North Syracuse football team and a two-year captain. Over the course of his high school career, Hills helped CNS put together a 32-7 record and he garnered numerous individual awards. Hills was tabbed the All-Central New York Team and earned Most Valuable Defensive Player after collecting 81 tackles and three sacks in 2019. During the 2020 season, the New York native finished with 32 tackles and eight sacks to pick up All-Conference honors during the shortened season due to COVID-19. As a senior, Hills had a career-season, finishing with 106 tackles, 15 sacks, and two pass deflections to earn All-State First Team and All-Central New York honors.
Shomari Lawrence | Running Back | Pompano Beach, Fla.
Lawrence is a 6-foot-0, running back from Pompano Beach, Fla. And joins Stony Brook as a transfer from South Dakota. In three seasons at South Dakota, he appeared in 17 games and recorded 766 rushing yards on 142 carries and four touchdowns. Through the air, he caught 20 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown. He is coming off a 2022 season where he rushed for 597 yards on 107 carries and three touchdowns and caught 14 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown. He ranked second on the team in rushing and rushed for a career-high 122 yards on 11 carries against Southern Illinois on October 22. Before his collegiate career began, he was a two-sport student-athlete at Blanche Ely and helped lead the Tigers to a 7-4 record on the gridiron as a senior in 2019. Following his senior year, he earned All-Broward County First Team honors after totaling 1,206 all-purpose yards including 1,004 rushing and totaled 14 touchdowns. Lawrence was the Otis Gray Award winner for overall outstanding play at the 2019 BCAA All-Star Football Classic and also competed in track & field for the Tigers.
Johnny Martin | Running Back | Lawnside, N.J.
Martin is a 5-foot-10, running back from Lawnside, N.J. and comes to Stony Brook as a transfer from Charlotte. He appeared in five games as a freshman in 2022 for the 49ers and rushed for 144 yards on 31 carries and found the end zone once. During his high school career, he posted three 1,000-yard seasons. He had a 2,000-yard season as a sophomore and earned All-State Second Team honors after his memorable season. He ranks 22
nd all-time in South Jersey with 4,321 career rushing yards at Highland and scored 40 touchdowns. In his junior year, he put up 1,053 yards and scored 11 touchdowns in just six games played. He finished his high school career with 21 100-plus yard rushing games.
Miles McGoy | Cornerback | Staten Island, N.Y.
McGoy is a 6-foot-2, cornerback from Staten Island, N.Y. and currently attends Curtis High School where he has been a standout on the football team. McGoy helped Curtis win a combined 17 games over the past two seasons and finished his high school career with eight interceptions. After a stellar junior campaign in 2021, he was named a Staten Island All-Star. Prior to the 2022 season, he was elected a team captain. In addition to football, McGoy also starred in basketball and track & field at Curtis.
Ian Rose | Offensive Lineman | Guilford, Conn.
Rose is a 6-foot-6, offensive lineman from Guilford, Conn. He currently attends Hamden Hall Country Day School, where he is a member of the football, wrestling, and track & field teams. Over the course of his high school football career, he was named a NEPSAC Honorable Mention. He has spent three years at Guilford High School before attending Hamden Hall Country Day School. His brother Connor is a member of the track & field team at Merrimack.
