Four 2022 NCAA Tournament Participants & 26 Home Games Highlight 2023 Baseball Schedule

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — After collecting six conference tournament titles, seven regular season championships, six NCAA Tournament appearances and one unforgettable run to the College World Series in 2012, the Seawolves are ready to embark on their new season in the Colonial Athletic Association as head coach Matt Senk has announced the 2023 schedule on Friday.
 
"This year's schedule reflects what we have come to embrace as a program. It is filled with exciting challenges and great opportunity. Our players and coaches are fully committed to meeting those challenges and opportunities which will hopefully end with us having a successful season as we have often done in the past," head coach Matt Senk said as he's set to begin his 33rd year at the helm of the program.
 
The Seawolves' schedule features 26 games at Joe Nathan Field, a 30-game Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) slate, and non-conference trips to Los Angeles, Troy, Chapel Hill and West Point. All conference matchups will be three game series, all at the same venue. The conference tournament will begin on May 24, 2023, in Charleston S.C.
 
The Stony Brook baseball team will begin its season out west, as the Seawolves head to Los Angeles, California, to battle California State – Northridge from February 17-19. After their battle in the City of Angels, the squad will travel to Alabama take on Troy University from February 24-26, for the first time in program history. Following the trip south, Stony Brook returns home to battle Saint Peter's University for its home-opener on February 28 at 3:00 p.m.
 
Moving on to March, the slate for the squad begins with a three-game series (March 3-5) at the reigning ACC Champion and NCAA Chapel Hill Regional winner, the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. Shortly after the trip to Chapel Hill, the squad will return to the Empire State to battle New York rival, the Rams of Fordham University, in a non-conference matchup on March 7 at Jack Coffey Field.
 
The squad gets to play in front of the faithful at Joe Nathan Field for six straight games before Stony Brook begins conference play. Stony Brook welcomes Long Island University on March 8, at 3:00 p.m., Lafayette College for a three-game set from March 10-12, Iona University on March 14 at 3:00 p.m. and Central Connecticut State University on March 15 at 3:00 p.m.
 
Stony Brook will play its first games in its new conference against the CAA Regular Season Champions, College of Charleston, with a three game series in South Carolina (March 17-19). Following a mid-week non-conference contest at LIU (March 21), the squad will host UNC Wilmington (March 24-26) for their CAA home opener. The Seawolves end their month of March with a non-conference matchup at Stony Brook on March 28 against Iona University.
 
The month of April begins with Stony Brook heading to the reigning CAA Conference Champions, Hofstra University (March 31-Apri 2). For the following two weekends, the squad will be battling at Joe Nathan Field against William & Mary (April 7-9) and Northeastern (April 14-16). Before ending their month with a home series against North Carolina A&T (April 28-30), the Seawolves will head to Elon to clash against the Phoenix from April 21-23. Stony Brook plays on three Tuesdays during the month, hosting Manhattan (April 4), heading to West Point (April 11) and playing Manhattan in Ponoma N.Y. (April 18).
 
The final month of the regular season starts with a home matchup versus Fairfield  (May 2). The squad then travels to Delaware to take on the Fightin' Blue Hens (May 5-7). After the trip to The First State, Stony Brook returns home to play its final non-conference game of the season against Sacred Heart (May 10) and will host Monmouth (May 12-14) to end its regular season home slate.  A road trip to Towson (May 18-20) will concluded the Seawolves' inaugural regular season in the CAA.
 
The 2022 CAA Tournament is set to take place at The Ballpark at Patriots Point on the campus of the College of Charleston from May 24-28.
