WEST POINT, N.Y. — The Stony Brook women's swimming and diving team trekked to West Point on Saturday, participating in the Army Invite hosted by the Black Knights, and the Seawolves did not disappoint.
They came away with nine personal bests and ten season bests at the Crandall Pool, while
Mary Kate Conway twice came within 0.4 seconds of breaking the school record in the 200 fly and 100 free, respectively.
Eight different Seawolves recorded their fastest times ever today, including a pair from
Yurika Tomita in the 100 breast and 200 breast.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Conway's pace of 2:03.80 in the 200 fly came within 0.28 seconds of the current school record, held by Julie Policht, while her time of 51.88 in the 100 free was 0.39 short of Darcy Hauser's time.
- Tomita clocked in 3.53 seconds ahead of her previous collegiate best in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:09.09. Her 200 breast time of 2:27.44 was 1.8 seconds ahead of her previous best.
- Three different Seawolves raced to their top time in the 100 back with Reagan MacDonald (58.14), Brenna McLaughlin (58.37) and Claire Lewis (1:18.29) all setting new collegiate-bests.
- Two more racers set their new best pace in the 100 free, as Emma Waechter (55.16) and Caroline Dunn (56.08) flew to the wall in their fastest time as a Seawolves swimmer.
- Bridget Montgomery is the final swimmer to set a collegiate fastest time, touching the wall in 5:07.00 in the 500 free.
- Stony Brook also had 10 season-best times from seven different swimmers.
UP NEXT
The Seawolves will head to the ECAC Championships at the end of the month, held at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
Currently 17 teams in women's swimming and seven women's diving teams are slated to participate in the Championships.
