STONY BROOK, N.Y. — For the seventh consecutive game, the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team rolled to victory, this time over New Hampshire, on Saturday afternoon at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium.
Kailyn Hart led the way with five goals and an assist, while
Morgan Mitchell recorded her first career hat trick en route to a career high, six-point day. The Seawolves scored the first three in the first 2:38 to start the day en route to an early lead.
After New Hampshire scored to cut it to 3-1, Stony Brook rattled off the next nine to extend the lead to 11 and they were off and running from there.
Kelly George and
Kelsi LoNigro eached tallied their first goals of the season in the second half, while
Alexandra Fusco added a pair to increase her season tally to five.
The Seawolves controlled for the first three quarters, totaling 30 of their 34 shots in the first 45 minutes of action, holding the visiting Wildcats to just nine through the first three frames. They also forced all 13 of UNH's turnovers in the first three quarters of play.
STATS AND NOTES
- The 20 goals in total are tied for the most by the Seawolves this season, matching the number they put out against Dartmouth on February 27.
- The Seawolves' active home winning streak increased to 25 games, the second-longest active streak in the country. They have also won 53 straight conference games, the longest active stretch in the country.
- LoNigro and George are the 16th and 17th different players to find the scoresheet this season for the Seawolves. The number of players with a point increased to 20 today, as Lauren Kenny, Courtney Maclay and Caleigh Wilbourn all added their first apples of 2022.
- Hart has recorded six points in four of her last five contests. Her five-goal output today is tied for a career best that she set against Dartmouth on February 27 of this season. She has 46 points on the year, already five more than her entire 2021 output.
- Mitchell entered today with five points on the year and had a career-high six today alone with four goals and two assists. Her four goals and two assists are also new collegiate bests.
- Masera recorded hat trick number nine on the year and her second consecutive such output. Today's three goals put her at a team-high 40 on the season.
- The nation's third-ranked scoring defense continued its dominant stretch, holding its seventh straight opponent to eight goals or less. They have a 5.14 goals-against average over the last seven contests.

Stony Brook returns to action on Saturday, April 16, taking on UMass Lowell at 3 p.m., in Lowell, Mass. It will be the first of two consecutive on the road over a four-day span as they head to Binghamton on April 19 for a 4 p.m., first draw in Vestal.
