BOSTON — After an 11-goal week, junior attacker
Kailyn Hart won the final America East Offensive Player of the Week award for 2022.
The lefty has come on strong over the final two weeks, scoring 20 goals over the last four games of the regular season, including 11 in the final two. She had six against No. 24 Yale on Monday afternoon before following it up with five at UAlbany.
She started a five goal run against the Bulldogs, scoring two of the first three during the stretch that turned a three-goal deficit into an advantage Stony Brook would not relinquish the rest of the day. On Saturday, she scored four of her five during a 20-minute span of game time, overlapping the second and third quarters that increased a 5-1 Seawolves advantage to double figures at 13-3.
It is the North Babylon, N.Y., native's first weekly honor of 2022 and the eighth bestowed upon a member of the Seawolves this campaign. She currently stands third in the league in goals per game (3.56) and fifth in points per game (4.44), spearheading a Stony Brook attack that leads the league in multiple offensive categories.
Stony Brook's regular season came to an end at 14-2 and on a 12-game winning streak. The Seawolves await their postseason fate that will be announced on Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m., in the NCAA Men's and Women's Lacrosse Selection Show, aired on ESPNU.
