CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Stony Brook infielder
Matt Miceli is one of 10 nominees selected for the Appalachian League Humanitarian of the Year award, the league announced Monday afternoon.
The award is given to the Appalachian League player that has been judged to have made the most notable contributions in his community during the season through active participation in community service projects. Each team selected a representative and Miceli was selected by his squad, the Johnson City Doughboys.
The sophomore made 41 appearances this summer, hitting .278 with a .748 OPS. He finished with three doubles and a pair of triples, drawing 25 walks to just 23 strikeouts at shortstop.
This is coming off a 26-appearance debut campaign for the Seawolves, where he played second base en route to helping lead his squad to a third consecutive America East Regular Season title.
