STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Freshman outfielder
Nicholas Dromboski has been named CAA Rookie of the Week following his performance that helped Stony Brook to a 3-1 week, including its first conference series victory of the season over UNCW. He is the first Stony Brook player to earn a CAA weekly award this season.
The Columbus, N.J. native batted .600 (6-for-10) across four games, tallying two doubles, a triple and a home run while scoring eight runs and driving in five. He also swiped four bases and extended his on-base streak to 11 games.
Dromboski delivered several key performances during the week. He went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple in Thursday's 7-6 win over UNCW, then drove in two runs in a 4-2 victory on Friday. Earlier in the week, he finished 2-for-3 with four runs scored and a solo home run in a win over New Haven.
Through the early part of the season, Dromboski leads the team with a .338 batting average and a .450 on-base percentage. He ranks sixth in the CAA in slugging percentage (.569) and seventh in OPS (1.019).
Stony Brook returns to action tomorrow with a 3 p.m. road matchup against Sacred Heart.
